Roca One Day Design Challenge

The Roca One Day Design Challenge is a competition aimed at students and young professionals under 30 years old who are starting out in the design and architecture sectors. Participants have to tackle the challenge of designing innovative concepts related to the bathroom space in just one day. Already well-established in Spain, this year the competition arrives in Hong Kong. Within the framework of the Business of Design Week, the creative space PMQ will host the event, at which the region’s students of architecture and design will take on the challenge for the very first time.

In line with the company’s firm commitment to innovation and design, Roca organizes this competition with the aim of supporting young professionals starting out in their careers, providing them with a platform where they can develop their creativity and gain the experience of dealing with the professional world and the company.

The last edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge was held in Spain in October 2015 and set a new record in terms of participation, with a total of 234 projects submitted and over 450 people taking part. These participants had to tackle the challenge of designing new products for both public and private bathroom spaces, with a particular focus on easy cleaning. The top prize went to the IGAD project, a self-cleaning basin using a rotation system. The project was highly rated by the jury for its potential in terms of commercial development and its capacity for use in both the domestic and public sphere, helping to significantly reduce the time dedicated to cleaning in large premises.
