Aalto

103 mins | Finnish, English, Others (Chinese, English Subtitles)

AALTO is a cinematic voyage into the life and work of Alvar Aalto, a defining figure of the 20th century architecture movement. The movie chronicles the intimate love story between Alvar and his wife, Aino. Beneath their unyielding love lay a shared conviction in putting people at the heart of their designs. Narrated by experts in the field, the film takes the audience on a tour of iconic buildings in Massachusetts, Russia, Paris, and Venice, deconstructing the magic that the modernist couple instilled in the bricks of their meticulous designs.

Extending from the theme of the film screening, the speakers will discuss the influence of Alvar Aalto on architecture and product design in the sharing session, as well as exchanging their points-of-view on aesthetics of architecture and product design from a Scandinavian perspective.
