New Know How – Crafting Design Future

S312, 3/F, Block A, PMQ

“Embrace the past and move on.”

The “RE: move on” project starts with individuals before extending to all corners of the city.

We all carry the weight of our yesterdays. Amidst the swirling sea of memories, aged jewellery is transformed into symbols of remembrance. Each person and place possesses their past. All souls, relationships, objects, and landscapes dance to the rhythm of inevitable change. Metalcraft is a silent witness to our ever-evolving life. While a piece of new jewellery is made to record the joyous present, what is there for the past?

Anger, pain, sweetness, and sadness nurture our growth. Embrace the past through metalsmithing and jewellery, and find your strength to continue. In this project, the team utilises metalsmithing to capture fleeting moments and preserve their sentimental value while transforming objects by imbuing old items with new meanings. By carefully selecting several old pieces of jewellery after listening to their backstories, the team reassembles them into new forms — to accompany those who find them in times of adversity and those who seek new directions for a fresh start.

PLAYBACK CONCEPT

PLAYBACK CONCEPT is a metal craft studio founded by metal artist Chan Po Fung.

Since 2014, the studio has been using metals such as gold, silver, copper and tin as creative mediums to document the changes in time, nature, cities and people. Our work encompasses jewellery, objects, and installation art. Through innovative design and the integration of craftsmanship into daily life, we aim to reveal the beauty of metal art in the process of creation and appreciation.

The “RE: move on” project is a collaborative effort by the team at PLAYBACK CONCEPT.
