A Hong Kong Designers Association 50th Anniversary Event
How has the evolution of visual, typography and interactive design inspired our city? In this session, three designers will share their experience and insights.
Ms. Mui Kinoshita explores how product design has evolved and integrate with technology, whilst Mr. Kelly Sze talks about the rapid changes in interactive design and digital media, and the impact on different parties. Mr. Eddy Hui will elaborate on how design education is developing in tandem with the growing complexity of design and other disciplines.
Eddy Hui is a User Experience Design Consultant and the former CEO of the Hong Kong Designers Association. He has served as the Head of the Department and Associate Professor in a design institute to nurture design thinking to different stakeholders in design education, including students, teachers, corporates and general public since the 90s. He has been invited by St James, Jockey Club, EDB, SKH for different seminars and workshops including designing integrated project.
He now also serves in different design institutes as External Examiner and judge for international design competitions. His works have been exhibited in China, USA, Germany, Korea, Japan, Estonia and other counties.
Mui Kinoshita – Chairman of Hong Kong Designers Association and Founder of Form & Shape. Mui is a product designer and entrepreneur trained in a multicultural background. She was born in Hong Kong and studied industrial and strategic design in Hong Kong, the UK, Finland, and Italy, respectively. In recognition of her remarkable achievements, she was awarded numerous global design award and business award, including the iF Design Gold Award, Red Dot Design Award, Global Design Gold Award in this ward, Smart Design Gold Award, YDTA Best Young Designer of the year, 40 under 40 Asian Design Talent and more. Mui is also the founder and CEO of ASA Innovation & Technology Ltd, a startup that innovates design with technology based in Hong Kong Science Park. ASA has attracted New World Development as its early investor and has completed Pre-A series round funding at HKD 100M Valuation. ASA has won Peninsula Hotel Kaleidoscope Lab Global Winner, HSBC Innovation Awards, China Mobile Entrepreneurship Award, the Alibaba Jumpstarter Global Best Startup and Most Favourite Startup, beating 600+ startups around the world etc.
Kelly has been involved in the design industry for over thirty years and is considered one of the pioneers of interactive design in Hong Kong. He founded Eureka Design Company Limited back in 1994 and then co-founded Eureka Digital Ideas Limited in 1995, the two companies that subsequently became Edeas Limited.
As Creative Director of Edeas, Kelly is responsible for the overall quality and effectiveness of its projects by overseeing every aspect of the creative process and by working closely with its clients. Kelly’s multidisciplinary experience extended his skills from traditional graphic design to interactive design, which creative combines marketing and technology skills together to form the total brand experience.
Kelly was elected the Chairman of the Hong Kong Designers Association 2010-12 and actively engaged in its activities to promote the design industry in Hong Kong. As the digital communication expert, Kelly is sought after by both commercial and non-commercial entities locally and internationally as competition judges, course advisors and interactive design tutors etc.
