Non-fungible tokens (NFT) have been the subject of wild hype lately; there are even digital art galleries featuring them, and people spend billions in cryptocurrencies to purchase them. Some call them overpriced JPEGs, while others call them a community. The one sure thing that can be said is that the value of NFTs can be challenged by their use(ful)ness.
This workshop aims to provide an introduction to NFTs, and will show participants how they can mint their own NFTs. After the workshop, participants can judge the usefulness of NFTs – and especially the ones they minted themselves.
No prior knowledge of NFTs is required to join the workshop; only a desire to learn more about the technology. Participants will gain a basic understanding of NFTs and learn how to create a digital wallet. They will also discover how to connect their wallets to a NFT platform, where they can upload their digital art and mint a NFT. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will receive an NFT in their wallets as a “proof of attendance” and souvenir of the experience.
Timothy Chau—aka Non-Fungible TC—is the creator of “When Square Meets Circle – A Love Story”, a project he began as an effort to make NFTs without any prior blockchain or programming experience.
In an attempt to make NFTs more affordable, he listed them for 0.00520 ETH. To date, more than 34/99 NFTs have been sold on OpenSea, with no paid promotion used.
He is also planning to launch a new YouTube channel in which he would interview creators and others whose lives have been changed by Web 3.0.
Non-Fungible TC comes from a marketing and media background and has been providing project management and marketing support on new projects for his previous company.
