Workshop

RE-RE-SET

1 / 1

The participants can customise an object based on the aluminium system, modified to combine local craftsmanship and material. In the experience, they learn more about the design process and design thinking as they consider the form (in terms of functionality and its relationship with the user) and choice of material and craftsmanship that can be sourced locally. They are encouraged to use this knowledge to design their own object and turn them into reality by hand. This will further their understanding of the idea of design.

The material used in the workshop will be sourced as sustainably as possible.

Workshop by

Michael Leung

Currently based in Hong Kong, Michael co-founded his studio, Studio AA (previously known as MIRO), in the Netherlands after completing his MA in Contextual Design at Design Academy Eindhoven in 2010. Michael’s works explore the multifaceted nature of design ranging from crafts and industrial to design systems and sustainability. He pushes the boundaries of design in different directions, levels and disciplines — from two-dimensional to objects and spatial.

Michael’s works have been showcased at the Milan and Dutch Design Week, Vitra Design Museum, and various international design exhibitions and museums. As well as being a designer, Michael is a lecturer and leads workshops in education institutes. He is the awardee of the Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award and Perspective’s 40 under 40 Award. Michael has collaborated with Vitra Design Museum (DE) and V&A (UK) on curation and exhibition design, where his creativity is manifested in the form of exhibitions.
